Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. James 4:17

Glory to Jesus!

What we don’t know are many. We don’t know the day we will die, we don’t know the day our heart will pack up. We don’t know the content of the air we breathe. We don’t even know what will happen to us the next day. Life is filled with many unknowns and unanswered questions.

Yet there are many things we know. By reading, by learning, by counsel, by thoughts, by dreams and visions, by experience, by observation the list is endless.

We know not just the good, we know also the bad and the ugly. Doing any of these options is a matter of choice. We may choose to do the good or evil or even the ugly.

Here is counsel from the Lord.

Knowing the good is not enough, reading about the good is not enough, talking about it, preaching it, packing it in books, organizing conferences about it are wonderful efforts but it’s not enough.

BUT

Until the good is done. We are held accountable.

Beloved how much debt are we owing for all the good we can afford and yet we fail to give attention to it.? We owe man and God for every neglect of doing good.

Doing good is simply doing good. It doesn’t have to carry any special label. We don’t have to tag it differently. We see a lot of good we can do around us to anyone deem fit. We don’t have to be related to them, we don’t have to know them, we don’t have to get a reward or be appreciated for it. Whether we are noticed or unnoticed for doing it we just have to do it.

Look around you there is a hole you can fill, there is someone’s hunger you can quench, there is a soul you can win, there is someone you can visit, there is a clothe you can mend, there is a peace you can create, there is light you can shine, there is counsel you can give, a prayer you can pray, There is someone you can save.

If you know it is good just do it.

Don’t pass by like the priest and the Levite who saw the Samaritan on the floor in pains and pass by. Just do it!

Stretch that hand, hug that fellow, give that your car, give that smile, offer that healing hand. You are overcoming sin!

Many at-times we flee from those big sins, we pray not to be tempted and fall into them yet there is a sin closer to us unnoticed. The sin of neglect. The neglect of doing good. Sin is Sin. It does not matter what is the size.

Knowing to do good and not doing it is a sin. Remember that no sin will gain entry into that glorious place above.

Be smart and be sinless! Do the good that you know. For that which you don’t know you may be spared.

Now that you know and you know it is good can you arise and do it?
